Sofia & Otto: curls, no smiles

Late this week! No excuse really except it is hard to get motivated to post when I didn't take any good photos :(

Not all gloom and doom however, there were smiles all around at the Play School concert on Sunday.

Sofia & Otto: climbing

There have been a couple of beautiful sunny days this week, so we have been making the most of it and getting out and about.

On Tuesday we headed to a new-to-us playground in Lindisfarne. The highlight was a huge climbing frame with a chute slide, buzzing with a heap of kids (it is school holidays here). Sofia and Otto tackled it head on and quickly scampered up the ropes to a respectable height where they had a breather and I took these snaps on my phone.

A few minutes later there were tears all around as Sofia took off up the tower and then lost her footing and bounced on her face on the ropes! I talked her down and gave her a cuddle, but then Otto got stuck and also needed to be rescued. It is a very tall structure and a bit tricky for the little ones (more suited to bigger kids), but I think we'll be back sooner rather than later. Practice makes perfect!

I didn't get a wide shot of the tower, but this photo from Pears and Pips shows the scale.

We were also lucky enough to have a visit from my sister Sally this week, so a bonus Aunty photo. This was taken on Coningham Beach where we soaked up some sunshine on Thursday.

Renovation - the new room gets a roof

The new room at the back of our house got its roof put on last week. It's also starting to get some walls so you can get a better idea of what it is going to look like. We took the kids to have a look from the driveway where you can clearly see the shape of the finished building coming together.

Here are some more photos taken from inside the fence which show how the house is coming together. If you compare them to the model drawings then it is a bit easier to see what's going on.

Sofia & Otto: visiting the 'old' house

The roof went on the new building at the 'old' house this week (Ian will most likely do a post on this soon). We headed over yesterday to have a look. It is still a bit treacherous over there so the kids didn't get free rein, but they did get a chance to fossick around in the front garden for a bit. Collecting flowers, plucking leaves - just like old times :)

Renovation - frame and floors

Lots of photos, not many words today. Over the last few weeks the builder has been working on the frame for the new room. It's a bit hard to see what's going on from these photos but if you look at them alongside the 3d drawings then you can sort of see what's happening.

There's also been a bit going on to fix up the old rooms inside the house. The wiring, plastering and painting are all progressing. Work on the floors has started and they are looking good.

The floors in front of some of the fire places has also been fixed up and the fireplace where the woodheater used to be has also been cleaned up quite a bit.
